I Bought it, the American Dream
If I’m honest, I’m not sure where the dream came from, but I take full responsibility for adapting it to fit me and pursing it to the best of my ability. I did everything I was supposed to. I went to schools, including 2 jr colleges, 2 Cal States and a trade school. I bought a diploma and a BA. I bought 20+ years of student loans, credit card debt, car payments and dreamiest of all, a home that came with HOA dues, property taxes and 2 mortgages, yay!!
Today, I’m down to 1 mortgage and 1 nearly maxed out credit card, all paid for by doing what I love of course! ❤️ Commuting to my “dream” jobs, Monday – Friday (maybe a few weekends too), for over 20yrs. I know there’s another 20+ on the clock before I’m supposed to stop, but really, what more do I have to prove? It’s time for me to step aside and let someone else have a turn. What can I say, I’m a giver.
Now that I’ve achieved such mind boggling greatness, its time for a new dream. Since this one is being born of my very own imagination, it will include, but is not limited to: art, castles, magic, nature and hiking, yoga, beaches, trains, a red head and plenty of beer.
In order to achieve this new dream I’ll have to let go of the old one. I’m saying bye to all my stuff, donating and selling everything I own, my dreamy home included, and I’m gonna travel the world for a while and see what this planet has left to offer a girl that’s achieved her American dream…. and I’ll blog about it. Your thoughts?
